In this study, it was aimed to clarify how children's self-evaluation and their mother's evaluation influence their achievement attitudes, as a function of children's motivational orientations. Fifth graders answered a set of question concerning the hypothetical situations, in which self- and mother's evaluations were systematically changed. Results revealed that mother's evaluations had considerable motivating effect. Among the four motivational-orientation-group, socially motivated groups received more influence of mother's evaluation. LH group (task-orientation being dominant) reported negative feeling to mother's low evaluation, while they maintained motivation to the task.
