Two investigations were conducted using college students' retrospective evaluation of their childhood. They were asked to write down freely how their parents had involved in their extracurricular activities. In general, relatively high rate of \"uninvolved\" responses suggested that their parents' influences could not be so obvious. Nevertheless, some interesting results were found. Students evaluated positively their parents' \"watching their contests\" and \"talking with them about the activity\". These responses supported the effectiveness of the relatedness (Deci and Ryan, 1985). Many of negative involvements, such as compulsion, negative feedback, pressure to achieve corresponded with controlling aspects of the external events.
