One can construct the dimension by first adopting methods of comparison such as one-to-one correspondence in stoichiometry, secondly equating between quantities with relation to chemical substance by means of one of the methods, and lastly collecting such quantities as a class. This paper shows the dimension as a class of amounts of chemical substance as well as a teaching material. Balancing amounts of substances makes it possible for students to appreciate the atomic/molecular world through the substance world. From the above-mentioned point of view the teachers can show students why chemistry needs the mole.
