In order to capture their ideal life-styles, occupations, and self images, we gave questionnaires to 339 university students (female n = 242, male n = 97) on the supposition that their hopes could be perfectly realized. The main results obtained from this research are as follows: first, what the students want to do at present is what is called adult amusement. Secondly, most of them want to take up noticeable occupations such as appearing in mass media or proffesions to acquire fame. Thirdly, most of the female students want to be a person whose characters are excellent or a person who can carry out what she hopes to do, while the male students want to be a person who is respected by others or to be a famous person.
