| 内容記述 | 1991年4月に，私立大学2年生59名（海外未経験者46名，海外経験者13名）を対象に外国語（英語）学習に対して学生が感じている不安と教師の態度と不安の関係に関する調査を実施した。その結果，海外経験のない学生は授業中クラスメート全員の注目を浴びる状態で英語を話すことに強い不安を感じていたが，海外経験のある学生は，英語を話すことに特別強い不安を感じていないことが確認された。また，教師が学生の間違いを大げさな態度で訂正しなければ，不安感を感じないで済むという点で完全に両者の反応は一致していた。しかし，学生が不安を覚えずに済む教師像において違いがみられた。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | The purposes of this third study were to find out 1) how much anxiety students have in English classes ; 2) how teachers can correct students' errors so that students feel less anxious; 3) what characteristics and attitudes students expect teachers to have so that students feel less anxious and finally, and most importantly, 4) to compare the differences in responses of students who have had experiences abroad and those of students who haven't. Data was gathered from 59 Japanese sophomores majoring in political science and economics at a large private university located in Tokyo, using a questionnaire; the questionnaire was administered in April of 1991. Out of 59 subjects, 46 students were classified as those without experiences abroad, and 13 students who had stayed in English speaking countries for more than three months were classified as those with experiences abroad. Data was analyzed by ANOVA and the Wilcoxon's rank sum test. The results revealed that 1) students without experiences abroad felt most anxious when they spoke English, especially when speaking in front of their peers, while students having experienes in foreign countries did not show significantly strong anxiety about speaking English; 2) students felt less anxious when teachers took the attitude that mistakes were "no big deal," --- and this was the same for both groups, and 3) students without experiences abroad felt most anxious when "teachers praised them," "teachers encouraged them to speak English in class," "teachers took good care of students," "teachers fully explained instructional materials," and "teachers were patient with them." Students with experiences abroad showed no particular tendencies in response to the teachers' characteristics and attitudes examined in this study. | |||||||||||
