| 内容記述 | 英語の母語話者は，ある文が文法にかなった文かそうでないかということを即座に判断できる。これは英語の文法に基づいて瞬時にその文法性を演算し，判断を下すことができるからである。同様に，英語の母語話者は，ある英文の一節を読んだり，聞いたりするとき，それがテクストを成しているか，そうでないか容易に判断することができる。このことから，テクストには，そのまとまりを保証している何らかの特徴や原則が存在し，話し手はこれを手がかりにしてテクスト性を判断している，と考えることができる。本稿では，英語の文章を正しく理解したり，さらに進んで，英語でまとまりのよい文章を書くために必要な言語的手段として冠詞と語い的結束性をとりあげ，談話の結束性という観点から，これらを支えている談話の原則を明らかにし，具体例を挙げて例証する。 | |||||||||||
