| 内容記述 | アメリカにおいて1890年代に入ると，主に「全米教育協会」が中心となり3つの委員会を設置し教育に関わる諸問題を取り扱った。この流れのなかで，1895年には「大学入学要件委員会」が発足した。同委員会はA．F．ナイチンゲールを委員長とし，中等学校関係者6名，高等教育関係者7名の13名から構成された。最初の非公式の予備調査報告は1896年7月に行われた。その後，非公式，公式の会合を経て，1899年「全米教育協会」のロサンジェルス大会において14の決議を盛り込んだ最終報告書を公表した。14の決議のなかでカリキュラム構成上重要な点として，選択制の原則が容認されたこと，中等学校の修学期間として6年間を要求したこと，必修科目を要求したこと，単位制を導入したこと，中等学校と大学の間の連続性に配慮したこと等が挙げられる。この委員会は結果的にはさほど論議を起こさず，注目もされなかった。しかしながら，中等学校の生徒がいかによりよい教育を受けて大学に進学するかという観点から検討された意義は，その後のアメリカの歴史に少なからぬ影響を与えた。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | In the United States, three committees were constituted at the beginning of 1890s, under the leadership of the National Education Association, to discuss various problems on national education. In the course of their activities, the Committee on College-Entrance Requirements started in 1895. The committee was made up of A.F.Nightingale and other twelve members: six persons concerned in secondary school education and seven persons concerned in higher education. And its first unofficial preparatory report was made in July,1896. After going through unofficial and official meetings, the final report was published in 1899, including fourteen resolutions, at Los Angeles meeting of National Education Association. The important points of the fourteen resolutions, in organizing curriculums, are approval of principles of elective system, requirement of six years' period of attendance at secondary schools, requirement of constants, introduction of unit system, careful consideration of continuity between secondary schools and colleges,etc. As the result, it is true that there was neither lively discussion on this particular committee, nor great attension of people, but it is of deep significance that American education was first examined so that secondary school students could receive better education to go on to colleges and universities, and this had a considerable influence upon American history thereafter. | |||||||||||
