内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The purpose of the present study was to test the variability of practice hypothesis derived from Schmidt's schema theory (Schmidt, 1975) within the framework of mental practice. It was hypothesized that mental practice under the variable schedule would result in better performance on a transfer task than mental practice under the constant schedule. Using a rapid force-control task, subjects practiced under one of the possible combinations of variable schedule or constant schedule and mental practice or control during mental training. The constant mental practice produced more accurate performance on a transfer task than did the variable mental practice. This finding is contrary to the present prediction and suggests that the variability of practice hypothesis could not be applied to the framework of mental practice. Another important result of this study was that the constant mental practice produced more accurate performance on a transfer task than did the constant control practice. This finding can be interpreted as evidence for beneficial effects of mental practice on learning of motor skills containing predominantly motor elements
