内容記述 | The purposes of this study are to investigate the contents of training courses of English activities at elementary school which public elementary school teachers hope to take, and to obtain English expressions which elementary school teachers want to know. In August of 2006, three hundred eighty-five elementary school teachers in Joetsu city answered the questionnaires, consisting of a face sheet, 5-point Likert scale twenty-two items concerning the contents of training courses of English, and free comments of Classroom English the teachers want to know and those of English expressions which are useful for talking with ALTs. The data was analyzed by a chi-square test, Fisher's exact test and ANOVA. The results of the face sheet revealed that the number of the teachers who have experienced teaching English to pupils was significantly more than those who have not; the number of the teachers who have English teaching certificate was significantly less than those who do not. Moreover, concerning the results of the 22 items, all the teachers felt 22 items to be necessary for them. The teachers who have experienced teaching English felt stronger hopes for 15 items of the training courses than those who have not. The free comments by the teachers showed that English expressions they wanted to know were not so difficult to interpret. Thus our university staff( the author and a British English teacher) could make a leaflet of useful English expressions for elementary school teachers as well as university and graduate school students who hope to become elementary school teachers. | |||||||||||
