| 内容記述 | 本稿は「教育政策委員会」における教育目標および初等・中等学校のカリキュラム改革に関する提案を論じていく。この委員会は「全米教育協会」の常設委員会として1935年に設立され1964年までその任務を果たした。同委員会は初等学校に関して 『すべてのアメリカの児童のための教育』を，中等学校においては『すべてのアメリカの青少年のための教育」，その改訂版『すべてのアメリカの青少年のための教育－さらなる展望－』を発表している。これらは架空の2つの町を創造し，ここで行われるカリキュラム改革を論じた。両者に共通するのはアメリカ民主主義をより深く発達させていこうとする思想と，1人ひとりの個性を尊重していこうとする思想である。民主主義と個人の尊重，学校とその他の社会が生態系のようにフィードバックするカリキュラムが提案されている。現在，社会のなかで学校教育は学歴だけを重視する傾向が続き，人間によって構成される社会のなかで真の意味での存在感を失っている。その結果，いくつかの病理現象を生み出すに至った。そのような現状においもこの提案は意義を持つ。 | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | The author attempts in this paper to discuss the reform of the educational aims and curriculum at elementary and secondary schools made up by Educational Policies Commission in the United States, which was founded in 1935 as the standing committee of National Education Association and executed its commission until 1964. This Commission has published Education for All American Children on elementary schools, and on secondary schools Education for All American Youth and its revised edition, Education for All American Youth : A Further Look. These books created two fictitious towns and discussed the reform of curriculum to be carried out there. What is common to all these books is the philosophy of deeper development of American democracy and the attitude of respecting each student's individuality. They propose to realize democratic way of life, respect of individuality, and the curriculum as feedback from the society, so that schools and other societies make good ecolgy. In this particular age, when school education is liable to separate from the real society and breed some morbid phenomena, their proposals are of deep significance. | |||||||||||
